Overview

We seek a senior level HVAC Chiller Technician with field experience in the Mechanical Services Business

Currently, we seek a senior level person with field experience in the Mechanical Services Business! This person will be technically savvy about the cold side of HVAC – Chillers, RTUs, Refrigeration, Cooling Towers, etc. This person will start leading a team of technicians and taking a service call when the current team is too busy. However with this Service company growing this lead tech will shortly become a salaried Service Manager in the coming year or two.  This local operation is backed by $250 million organization with a fast-growing funnel! During the growth mode, this position (as well as the other technicians) is GUARANTEED 40 hours a week even if there aren’t any calls to run.

This opportunity is perfect for an experienced team leader or field mechanic that is looking to move to an inside role leading the operations of the service team. This position requires a person that is well organized, can multi-task, and self-motivated to work and achieve goals. This is a great opportunity with a well-established, growing company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead service technicians | Schedule calls
  • Assist salespeople on technical estimates (recommending hours, evaluating rigging, etc)
  • When techs are fully booked run an important service call
    • Once team hits 5 techs this role will be 100% office based meaning you won’t run any calls
  • Evaluate technician skillsets; assign them to accounts/projects based on this
  • Assist in hiring additional technicians
  • Understand the design build market
  • Assist in purchasing high value tools
    • Justify to ownership necessity of tool for jobs
  • Evaluate weekly repair work and preventative maintenance to understand labor needs
  • Able to explain to leadership when new technicians need to be added to the team due to current, short term, and long-term PM and project list
    • Work with salespeople to understand what they have in the pipeline
      • Match tech availability and skillset
    • Ensure all vendor deliveries are maintained and all the proper materials are delivered
    • Follow up on all back orders with vendors to ensure material is obtained for projects

Qualifications

  • 10 plus years of field experience | Prior team leaders are highly encouraged to apply
  • Dogged work ethic! Strong multi-tasker; Strong problem solver; Strong managerial skills
  • Deep understanding of chilled water systems & equipment
    • Centrifugal chillers, screw chillers, air-cooled chillers, pumps, air handlers, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; Strong attention to detail; Strong organizational skills
  • Strong ability to think outside the box to get the job done
  • Universal Refrigerant License preferred
